St. Mary's Newport Church is a small rural church with deep Czechoslovakian  heritage that was built around 1876.  It was used as a Catholic church having services until 1986, when the Diocese of Davenport closed it and ordered it to be demolished.  After diligent efforts & with the help of hundreds of contributors the church has been completely remodeled inside & out & is now available to rent for weddings & other social events.
